Individual Assignment #1 (As you add more individual assignments, put each new assignment ABOVE the previous one. Add a horizontal line between the assignments).

  • Create a new WIKI page using your initials and the name of your novel(s) as the title. Link it to your main page.
  • As you read your story, pay attention to the following:
  1. Name the major character(s). Name the minor character(s). In what ways do the minor character(s) affect the main character(s)?
  2. What decision(s) has a character made that you totally disagree with. Tell why you disagree with it.
  3. How does this story change your thinking?

Write your ideas on your WIKI page. This should be an ongoing assignment throughout the week. As you read more chapters, add more information.
Your insights can be written using bullet points, using short sentences, or writing paragraphs - your choice.

Due date: Friday, March 9

1.The Main character is Henry Forester. Henry is the youngest pilot in the Air Force.
The Minor characters are Patsy, Henry's Dad, Henry's Mom, Dan MacNamara. Patsy is Henry's good friend but at points it seems like they are boyfriend and girlfriend, they really care about each other. Henry's Dad is another minor character. He is sometimes grumpy and a conflicting man but he still cares very much about Henry. Henry's Mom is very good at cooking but is known for her pies. Henry loves her pies. Dan is probably Henry's best friend in the Air Force. Dan is a pilot.

The minor characters have affected Henry a lot. One way that the minor characters affected
Henry was that Henry was mad at his father, so he enlisted into the Air Force. Billy and Henry gets into a fights on whose life is better. Another way that minor characters have affected Henry is that Henry really misses the little things with his family that he takes for granted like the smell of his mom's blueberry pie.
Funny how those little things mean so much when they are taken away!

2.I totally disagree with the decision to enlist into the war by Henry. That decision really put his life on the line and that decision could have caused his death or really injured him. Only because you but heads with your father doesn't mean that you should just enlist into the Air Force. Another decision that I disagree with was when Billy and Henry had to get into a fight. If they fight it might result with bad chemistry in battle and eventually lead to death.
Henry felt so strongly that he had to prove that he was worthy of his dad's love...a very strained relationship. Do you think his dad knew that Henry felt that way? Sounds like they were both stubborn!
3.This story changes my thinking because it gives me insight on what it feels like to go into a war. It also changes my thinking because it makes me appreciate all that the people in the war do for us, for example, these people fighting in the war risk their life for the well-being of their country and could risk their jobs and other very important things by enlisting into the war.
We are fortunate to have so many dedicated men and women in our Armed Forces!
